The first ColdFusion manual you should read is "Getting Started with ColdFusion 4.0". Unfortunately, Allaire have not updated this to version 4.5 - but it still remains the best ColdFusion primer.

If you installed OmniHTTPd and Coldfusion Express you can browse to http://127.0.0.1/CFDOCS/index.htm and click on the 'ColdFusion Express' Documentation link. There you will find "Developing Web Applications with ColdFusion Express" and "CFML Language Reference for ColdFusion Express". Available to view online or using Adobe Acrobat.
